Trees in Trouble will have its broadcast premiere Sunday, November 22, at 4:30 pm on Southwest Ohio / Northern Kentucky public television station CET Connect.
The documentary is produced by award-winning filmmaker and Cincinnati resident Andrea Torrice. It highlights Cincinnati’s battle against the invasion of foreign insects, such as emerald ash borer and Asian longhorn beetle to explore a growing national story. First found near Detroit in 2002, emerald ash borers have now infested trees in 35 states, from New Hampshire to South Carolina and as far west as Colorado.
Trees in Trouble is the first film to document how a city responds to the imminent tree crisis. It chronicles the efforts of people on the Cincinnati frontlines—park managers, local residents, public officials and nationally-known scientists—and shows how community-wide efforts can save and protect trees for future generations.
